Wellbeing for the whole class

Heads Up Kids is a charity specialising in positive mental health education for primary schools. We create social and emotional wellbeing programmes that help children understand themselves, relate to others and develop practical skills to manage the ups and downs of life.

Our work is rooted in a simple belief: when children have the words to express their feelings and feel confident using them, they become more resilient, more empathetic and better able to solve problems.

Created for the realities of school life

The programmes were written by Andy Hugh and Claire Godley to create a shared emotional language in the classroom. Their approach combines wellbeing expertise with an understanding of the relationships, behaviours and pressures teachers encounter every day.

Heads Up Kids train teachers to deliver the programmes because they know their pupils and can shape the culture of the class. With the right support, every teacher can help children develop vital skills for positive mental health.

Access should not depend on a school’s budget

Preventative mental health education should be available to children before they reach crisis, not only where a school can afford additional support. Our funding model helps schools access programmes, training and resources despite the financial pressures they face.

That makes our community of funders and supporters central to the story. Their generosity allows more classrooms to take part and gives more children tools they can carry into later life.
