A creative wellbeing journey through primary school
Heads Up Kids offers age-appropriate programmes from Reception through to Year 6. Each programme builds emotional literacy, emotional regulation, positive relationships, confidence and resilience in a way that reflects the children’s stage of development.
What every programme has in common
1. Emotional Literacy
2. Emotional Regulation
3. Getting on with others
4. Positivity and Resilience
“Now I know how to explain how I’m feeling.”
1 in 5 children struggle with their mental wellbeing
Children learn to recognise and express feelings, understand that our feelings can affect our behaviour, and develop ways to calm down, reflect and ask for help. They practise empathy, collaboration and problem-solving while building a more positive sense of themselves.
The learning is reinforced through shared language, familiar imagery and opportunities to revisit ideas in everyday classroom life. Where relevant, parents and carers receive supporting content so the conversation can continue at home.
Heads Up Kids Programmes are designed for whole-class delivery by teachers who know their pupils. Training, structured sessions and classroom-ready materials give staff a clear framework while leaving space for the conversations and dynamics of each individual class.
Designed to fit school life
The programmes are mapped against statutory requirements and PSHE Association guidance, allowing them to sit comfortably alongside a school’s wider scheme of work.
Their greatest value, however, comes when the ideas live beyond the lesson and become part of how the class talks, listens and solves problems together.
SEND
Every child deserves to learn wellbeing skills and to feel part of their class community. That’s why Heads Up Kids is continuously developing their bank of adapted resources designed to make our programmes accessible for everyone.
We worked with specialist SEND teachers to ensure that our adapted resources meet the needs of SEND children in mainstream schools.
Our work supports the incoming SEND reforms (2026) by “creating ‘calm classrooms’ and safe, predictable and respectful environments for all pupils”.
Schools using our programmes can find adapted resources alongside the programme materials.
Finding the right programme
Finding Bunny introduces emotional wellbeing in Reception through a playful story-led experience.
Sebby Star takes Key Stage 1 children on an immersive journey through feelings and relationships.
The Key Stage 2 curriculum develops those skills in greater depth across Years 3, 4 and 5.
The Year 6 programme focuses on change, worries and transition.
